A "comprehensive national civic uprising" requires dropping grudges and forming new alliances. Protests opposing the Trump coup, including on campus, are assembling a coalition of strange bedfellows.
Thank you, as always Rabbi Hammerman, a brilliant entry into the Notebook.
Something that is seldom mentioned is the role of Opus Dei in the Project 2025 playbook. It´s no wonder the three Trump-appointed Supreme Court justices are Roman Catholic. J.D. conveniently converted in 2019. He wrote a preface to Project 2025 (and I wouldn´t coubt that Franziskus, blessed memory, at his meeting with J.D. a few days ago, experienced a climb in his blood pressure so high that in his condition caused a stroke!). The Guardian wrote an article quite long before the 2024 election: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/article/2024/jul/26/kevin-roberts-project-2025-opus-dei
It becomes clear who is ruling our country right now: ultimately Opus Dei + Trump and his incompetents. An excellent book I can recommend is by Gareth Gore, "Opus: dark money, a secretive cult, and its mission to remake our world." This is NOT conspiracy theory. And, yes, these are the self-flagellating, misogynistic nutcases characterized in Dan Brown´s books.
It´s just important for us all to keep up on this. Strange, that it is hardly mentioned anywhere.
Through this looking glass, in addition to Rabbi Hammerman´s insights into this "anti-Jewish" game Trump is playing, everything becomes a bit clearer, including the background to the wrecking ball being taken to the American education system, top to bottom!
Watching together with many of my fellow Australians as our country too has a rise in antisemitism and racism. I am really happy to see the unity and amount of people are protesting in USA. Born in 1962 I am reading a lot of history and seeing history repeating in frightening ways. I had not heard about the narrow bridge before being brought up as Catholic lucky I had nuns who encouraged questioning and exploring our thoughts at school. As I age I realise my knowledge is very limited so explore many different points of view and belief systems. The common theme is we all have to pass over that same bridge. Thank you, I will be following your posts with interest. Marian 🌼
That is beautiful, I remember singing that many years ago at the local church. Father Fisher had it regularly in his services.
Looking back he was also a big believer in St Francis. I understand why now.
What a beautiful soul.

Thank you, Marian - and given what you mentioned, I’d love it if you can help us understand how to interpret your election results when they come in.
As usual your writings are beautiful. My mother used to talk about St Francis to me, maybe he was one of her favorites.
Thank you Rabbi Hammerman ❤️
Thank you!
AMEN.
