The fact that Shabbat can be overridden in matters of life and death has never been so relevant as this week. Our peaceful protests will save lives. Third of a 3-part series leading up to June 14.
Disgusting, that kind has undertones of intimidation especially that we have never had anything like this. The only time I saw a major political parade I was in grade school. We all got off so we could go to the street and watch Eisenhower drive-by in a convertible on its way from Milwaukee to Chicago for rally..
It’s Wednesday morning and after a long thread of texts, my friend Jane, 77, (& me, 75) will not be joining our brothers and sisters for the No Kings march. Our march gathers at the Houston Co. Alabama Courthouse. It will be small due to our ruby red political environment but I’m very worried about rump’s threats about gatherings. I know gatherings are protected by our United States Constitution, he doesn’t seem inclined to care about that. We, Jane and I, are not spry enough to run, or be beaten, God forbid. So we’ve decided to sit this one out. Both of us marched in antiwar protests in the early 1970’s. Oh what a difference, and how much remains the same after55 years. My most best hopes for your safety and I’ll be thinking of you and yours this coming Shabbat. 🇺🇸💙🤞🏽(🇺🇦)
Rabbi, thank you for this message of the importance of protesting and praying on our feet on behalf of all people. I will be in Philadelphia protesting and praying that we are all saved. Be safe everyone who is protesting and thank you for standing up for our democracy.
A proud American Jewish woman, I will be participating in my local No Kings protest. I reasoned that if ever there were a case of an “ass” falling into a ditch, this is it.

Thank you for this message. My husband and I will be marching in Philadelphia. I particularly liked the idea of praying with our feet.
Thank you for your willingness to protest. I will pray for your safety.

There will be lots of opportunities to help, Claudia. It is such a shame that we need to feel insecure speaking out in our country.
