Speaking of balls, Netanyahu dropped the ball by ignoring Hamas and just trying to buy them off, bad, bad mistake. Yes, their both leaders let them down, Israel and Palestine. Peace in Israel has always been fraught with conflict. Way before this creep Netanyahu. Now Gaza and the poor people left their are in tatters. And the U.S. leadership has plenty of blood on our hands. This is what I want to know! Why can’t we ALL just get along? Why are humans wired for conflict all the time? When will we ever find PEACE?

I wish I could respond with words as stirring and unsettling as yours, but instead I am convicted and without words…..only thank you!

Yes, we need more politicians and religious leaders with balls! I have many more ancestors with balls like Pére Loyson and his wife. Around 1899, they went on a crusade in the Holy Land. Their primary goal was to gain a deeper understanding of the three Abrahamic religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Emilie, his wife, wrote a book about this journey, which is still available today, "To Jerusalem Through the Lands of Islam among Jews, Christians, and Moslems." They tried to arrange a peace conference with the leaders of each Religion, but they all refused to attend! Sound familiar? In 1998, I worked on a cruise ship that had Israel on its itinerary. I chaperoned many excursions throughout Israel and Palestine and also explored on my own. The two ports were Ashdod and Haifa. I befriended many Israeli and Palestinian citizens. The common thread amongst them all was that they just wanted to live in peace with each other. All of them had friends and acquaintances in all religions. The owner of a bookstore was the most opinionated and vocal. His major prediction was that if Netenyahoo came into power, he would lead the country to war. He was correct. Netanyahoo is responsible for all of the deaths in this conflict, not the people of Palestine or Israel! Thanks for mentioning my family. I have also published Emily's autobiography and plan on a second edition soon. She had balls also!

Happy to help and thank you. The only place where I differ is that Hamas is primarily responsible for all the deaths in Gaza and Israel, and ultimately that means Iran. But I agree that the people of Gaza and Israel are more victims than perpetrators. Their leaders have let them down.

Yes, Hamas is a terrorist organization responsible for killing many people. The reason my friend in Israel mentioned that Netenyahoo would lead Israel to war was the belief of the far RW Israeli government that the Palestinian territories should belong to Israel. The only way for this to happen would be to declare war on them and then defeat them, and occupy their territories. Netanyahoo has planned for this since before the Palestinian elections of 2006, when he supported Hamas gaining political control of the Palestinian government instead of forbidding Hamas from participating in the elections. Hamas never gained a majority of the votes! The majority of Palestinian citizens did not want Hamas in Palestine! Netanyahoo supported them financially and was hoping for an attack that would be so violent that he could declare war on all of Palestine. That is just what he has done! I am not anti semetic. My mothers family suffered in Holland in WWII and my fathers family was part of the French resistance and helped artists, Jews, and intellectuals escape Nazi France. Governments taking land by force is always wrong and should be a thing of the past, but unfortunately, it is not!

Bibi’s support of Hamas (and Qatar too) will go down as one of the greatest blunders of Jewish and diplomatic history. He has yet to pay a political price for it, but Israelis are ready to vote him out, whenever they get the chance.

Yes, and the US is just as bad, taking a bribe from Qatar, which finances Hamas, and many other terrorist groups! Emilie and Pastor Charles Loyson (Père Hyacinthe) must be rolling over in their graves at Père Lachaise cemetery in Paris, as well as their son Paul and their grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and my generation, who were all pacifists!

Thanks! It’s hard to argue that this Israeli government hasn’t exactly hurt the cause of antisemites. But it’s too easy to use that as a justification for acts such as the shooting in D.C. last week. I know you’re not doing that, Kim, but others are. The D.C. victims were attending a program designed to build bridges, in Gaza and elsewhere, and evidently the killer knew that. But I agree that he (and Hamas as well) have fostered so much despair, as well as anger, among those who have suffered - both Palestinian and Israeli.
