The secret to democracy's (and Jewish) survival has always been humor. That’s why Colbert, Kimmel, SNL and the Daily Show cannot take their foot off the gas. Not now. Not ever.
`Wish I could have opened "My Jewish Learning" links but they were unavailable - and such a long list! The additional links I could access. They inspired me to check out the hilarious George Burns and Gracie Allen good-night skits of my childhood (check this one out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=buQwU4E6avI). Thank you for this Notebook page. Comedians - and we are still blessed with many (in the US) - are so very essential for surviving the insanity of these times.
Last night I decided to watch some old Burns and Allen episodes on YouTube. I haven´t laughed so hard in ages. Simple humor from a brilliant actress - marvelous non-political comedy (for a change) and great moments of badly needed relief. It´s utterly medicinal, as are many of your suggestions. I even passed on my nightly dose of Colbert and Stewert.
I agree and watch Colbert regularly. I do have a link to his show since his drummer, Joe Saylor, is the son of a college friend of mine. I am also a huge fan of Mel Brooks; the Jewish Indian in Blazing Saddles makes me crack up just thinking about it.

Sorry. I find Oliver's bigotry v. Israel offputting. And Stewart's promotion of screaming antisemites like Coates.
I agree that Oliver and Stewart both overdo it on Israel. But Netanyahu's actions aren't always easy to defend..
